I'm a Drummer At Heart
When I was a teenager I bought a drum set at Woolworths for $99 . I took it home set it up in the basement and annoyed the neighbours. I just liked the sensation of drumming. Jim played guitar, Blaine played keyboard. Barry played bas, I think. Someone said, "Let's start a band." We practiced a few times but like Jim pointed out. "We never finished a whole song." It was probably my fault. (I invite Jim to add his perspective to this.) Bottom line - we sucked. I still love drums and drumming but I don't pretend to have any talent.
Recently I discovered Brandon Buckley and he is kind of an okay drummer. What I found interesting is that two following videos. One is the Shakira performance, from the audience point of view and them the same song in a live performance, from Brendan's (Shakira's drummer) point of view. Why I find this so cool is that when I hear a performance, live or on video - I hear the second version - every time. You don't have to listen to the whole song in either video but do listen to the perspective of a drummer (wannabe).
This is what most people hear...
This is what I see and hear. (Jimmy will appreciate this.)
I just put this in here for me, but if you are even mildly interested in the current drumming technology - go ahead check it out.
